Gillingham Gloom

4-1 is a poor result against any side in the same division, regardless of being away from home and certainly for Bristol Rovers in League Two it's not good enough. Yes that does mean I have a certain level of expectation, but that's no bad thing Mr Buckle if you happen to be reading this.

If you lower everybody's expectations (which aren't even ridiculously ambitious by the way, seeing as we are a decent sized club for this level) you're setting yourself up for a fall. We know we have no God given right to turn up and win matches but telling us following shocking results at home to Torquay, Cheltenham and Hereford that expectations need to be lowered is absolutely absurd. What do you want us to expect and aspire towards as supporters? A season sitting in the bottom of of League Two? You're off your bloody rocker if you think that's anywhere near good enough.

As supporters we don't ask for anything that can be considered too far-fetched. We just want the team to attack, go in to every single game looking to win and then, ultimately, do well in the league. If we're in League One, okay, there are many big clubs with quality players so mid-table would be a decent finish but not when you're in League Two. No way. We should be aiming for the top end of the table or what's the point? I recognise you're trying to cover your backside and keep your job but the results simply are not good enough and we should not be hearing we played 'brilliant football' following a 4-1 defeat. A point at Southend is a decent return but let's face it we were blooming lucky. We scored with our only effort on target - if that's not fortune I don't know what is. Something needs to change.

Our defence is unbelievably poor at best, so personnel needs to change. More importantly though, our tactics and results have been ludicrously bad too so therefore the manager's position needs to be looked at. He's been given money and time. Many other chairmen would have got rid of him following shocking home defeats to Barnet and Port Vale, but Nick Higgs gambled and stuck with him. We've got to Xmas and we're in 18th position in nPower League Two - not good enough. Sides below us like Plymouth Argyle would be much closer to ourselves had they not had the financial problems earlier in the season. If we're to lose to them on Boxing Day, something I can't even contemplate, then he's out of a job, surely? They a poor side and if they made ground on us it would be disastrous. I think Buckle's days are numbered.

One very concerned and depressed Gashead, signing off.
