6 pointer versus Hereford?

3-1 defeat to Villa. Not unexpected really, Premier League against struggling League Two opponents. Saying that, we could have made the scoreline a little closer had Scott McGleish scored that last minute penalty - if only that had happened 10 minutes earlier, would have been a cracking finale. Ah well, wasn't to be.

I could go in to detail about how defensive we were, but in fairness, had we gone out all guns blazing we would have been annihilated on national TV. I'm over it now anyway. We've got bigger fish to fry.

Well, I say that. Hereford United are a rather small fish in the footballing pond, but the game tomorrow night at Edgar Street is massive. We're in no sort of form whilst Hereford have picked up of late - when looked at like that, the game isn't looking too good, but the players will want to go out and impress our new gaffer (whoever he may be), so we should be up for it. Having said that, the prospect of a new manager shouldn't need to be the reason they are motivated for a must-win game, the desire to go out and win it should be innate.

They have a few attacking threats that we will need to be wary of. Yoann Arquin is making a name for himself at the Bulls, whilst Blackpool loanee Tom Barkhuizen has chipped in with a few crucial goals too. They will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing our porous defenders. Dreading it when I put it like that. I have to be honest though, I've been impressed with Aaron Downes since he joined on loan from Chesterfield. No nonsense defender who would work well alongside Byron Anthony in my opinion, although I'm not sure the latter will be available for tomorrow's game.

One other definite absentee from tomorrow's starting 11 is the highly influential Mustapha Carayol. He's a massive loss and that will undoubtedly mean we'll carry little attacking threat. Ex-Gas Ryan Green will be delighted to hear it. Easy night's work for him and his team mates.

Come on Rovers, surprise me. Go out and attack them from the start, I don't want to see any of this 4-5-1 nonsense. 3 points is required, go and get them.
