Seaside Showdown

So on top of the good news regarding the stadium plans being submitted, Rovers are preparing for a massive West Country clash with high-flying Torquay United at Plainmoor tomorrow. Not only is it a big game for the players, particularly the ex-Gulls among our ranks, but for Gasheads too. So much so that the away tickets, all 1000 of them, sold out over a week ago. Rovers fans who were unable to get a ticket are electing to buy them for the home end as Torquay have not made it all-ticket for their own fans, so it is almost guaranteed that 500 or so extra away fans will be at the game. Oh I love a derby atmosphere!

Games like this don't come around often, so hopefully the players can supply the huge Gas following with something to shout about on the pitch. They're in good form though and certainly won't roll over and let us tickle their bellies, so we're in for a corker. Full of goals? I'm not so sure, both defences have been particularly stubborn lately (let's forget about the 20 minutes on Tuesday shall we) so a tight affair is what I'm expecting. Bobby Olejnik is a top goalkeeper at this level, easily high-end League One standard, and it's going to be difficult for us to break them down and put the ball past him. Hopefully Muzzy et al are on song and can do the business for us up front.

Gasheads in numbers!
1500 fans singing Goodnight Irene behind the goal tomorrow before kick-off will really get the players going and they'll know what to expect. As fans we pride ourselves on our superb vocal backing and tomorrow will hopefully be a fantastic example of us at our best. We can be the 12th man, as Rovers players know full well.

Let's absolutely annihilate the Torquay support and roar the lads on to victory. We can do it. This is the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Bristol Rovers, let's kick it off with a win.

Up the Gas!
