Woody Buzzing For Swindon Clash!

Rovers full-back and star performer Danny Woodards has today spoken of his excitement ahead of tomorrow's huge League Two clash at the County Ground. The Gas head to Wiltshire to face the league leaders and know to expect a tough game from the Robins on the back of their crushing JPT Final defeat to lowly League One side Chesterfield.

Woodards, who netted his first ever league goal in the reverse fixture at the Mem in December, is happy to come back having not scored tomorrow... as long as we pick up the 3 points. The defender said to the Evening Post "They are top of the league, so obviously they are a good side, but so are we when we go out and perform".

He's spot on. The West Country clash will be a feisty affair with Paolo Di Canio sure to be rollicking his players in to winning the game after the 1-1 draw against us pre-Christmas. He said to local media in Swindon that in terms of quality they are "Ten times better than Bristol Rovers". Hang about Di Canio. You've done extraordinarily well this season, but to say you are ten times better than us is ludicrous. One of the reasons I dislike the guy with a passion.

The only redeeming statement he made when interviewed was that he labelled Rovers fans as very 'passionate', something I do utterly concur with. There should be a Gas invasion in excess of 1500 heading in to the Arkells Stand and Stratton Bank tomorrow afternoon, ensuring a vociferous atmosphere for both sides. They'll make life difficult for us, there's no doubt about that, but as Mark McGhee rightly says 'we've got nothing to lose'. He wants us to go there and win, the players want to and so do the fans. Let's go and do it!

Danny winning a header against Crawley.
The most pleasing thing about Danny Woodards' interview is that he says it was a 'great honour' to captain the side on Tuesday and that, wait for it Gasheads... 'I've got a year left on my contract and I hope to be here next season. Bristol Rovers is a good club with a great support and a good bunch of lads, so that'll do for me.'

Cue mass relief and delight! Woody wants to stay and the club wants him to stay - happy ending. Hopefully no clubs will come in for him and we can tie him down to an even longer deal. If we can, i'll be over the moon.

Swindon beware, Rovers won't come and roll over for you. Let's enjoy the day Gasheads, hopefully we can overcome the occasion and take a victory home with us.

Up the Gas!
