Rovers Rebuffed

A second bid for Oxford United striker James Constable has been rejected after 6 days consideration by the club's board of directors.

Constable in Oxford action
U's chairman Kelvin Thomas labelled our bid as a 'reasonable one' but stated that they had rejected larger offers for their forward in the past.

Rovers chairman Nick Higgs has today updated supporters on the work going on behind the scenes to strengthen the squad and explains that 4-6 new players will be brought in. He spoke about the offer submitted for Constable (prior to its rejection) and that if we were to be unsuccessful we had other 'targets' in mind to move on to. I'd suggest that perhaps we'll be doing just that if Oxford feel that £200,000 or more is required to entice Constable away from the Kassam Stadium.

Plenty of movement to come at the Mem this summer, it's hoped that transfers will start to progress now as we approach the beginning of pre-season in early July.

  1. Time to forget this guy and move on to other transfer targets. We mustn't fall into our old habit of chasing just one solitary target, and missing out on others in the meantime.

  2. Agree totally.

We've seen many times before that putting all your eggs in to one basket isn't wise, hopefully Mark McGhee won't allow that to happen.

    Izale McLeod anyone?
