Busy Week At The Mem?

It's shaping up to be a very, very busy week for Rovers with a number of transfer incomings and outgoings set to take place.

We're all braced for the departure of Mustapha Carayol to Middlesbrough which is set to be completed tomorrow following his omission from the friendly with Yeovil yesterday. It has been a summer-long saga that has proved frustrating for both Muzzy and Rovers fans, with no bids meeting our valuation in the early part of the summer. Middlesbrough were reluctant to meet our asking price but now appear to have offered an acceptable amount to prise the winger away and, subject to a satisfactory medical, he will sign for Tony Mowbray's men tomorrow.

Rogvi Baldvinsson set to sign tomorrow
In terms of recruitment and new signing Rogvi Baldvinsson will link up with the squad tomorrow to complete his medical and sign on the dotted line, whilst David Clarkson will endure his own testing before signing his contract.

There are set to be further additions made to the team as Mark McGhee has confirmed we are set to complete the signing of Garry Kenneth and it's hoped he'll have enough time to train with his new team-mates to play a significant part in the friendly with Bristol City next Saturday. McGhee has maintained for a few weeks that 'one or two' wingers may need to be signed should Muzzy leave and now that that looks set to happen, we could see some movement in that department too. One player who looks certain to earn a deal is German Fabian Broghammer who has impressed in recent outings. Whether a second winger will be brought in or whether attention will switch to bringing in another striker remains to be seen, but a 'flagship' signing is thought to be in the offing.

The players also face an almighty trip to Tamworth in midweek to give them a taste for the long away trips we'll have to make next season, so preparation will get underway for that on Monday to cap off what will be a busy 48 hours for McGhee, Shaun North and the rest of the club's staff. In a week's time we'll have a much clearer idea of how our playing personnel will look going in to the new season, so hopefully excitement will be at an all-time high next Sunday.
