McChrystal Signs New Contract

Defender Mark McChrystal has penned a new 2 year contract with Rovers, with the option of a third year depending on appearances. The Northern Irish centre half has been a revelation alongside Tom Parkes since arriving in January and the club have been keen to tie him down to a new contract for a number of weeks. He was highly thought of at League One Tranmere Rovers, his former employers, but was a victim to their success at the start of this season when he had recovered from a long-term injury.

His experience has benefitted our otherwise young squad and he captained the team in the absence of Parkes when he was suspended earlier this month. Goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall, who has been on loan from Millwall, is also in negotiations with the club over a permanent deal although as yet nothing has been confirmed.

McChrystal joins Michael Smith and Matt Harrold who have also recently committed themselves to 2 year deals.
