Stevenage Sign Tounkara

Lifted from: bristolpost.com
League One side Stevenage, managed by Graham Westley, have signed released Rovers striker Oumare Tounkara. The athletic forward showed glimpses of his ability whilst playing in the quarters but scored only 2 goals in 9 appearances, both away against Dagenham & Redbridge. His obvious potential hasn't gone unnoticed and it has earned him a move up a division.

The release of Tounkara and Tom Hitchcock's departure following his loan spell from QPR does seemingly create a space for a new striker to be signed by John Ward this summer. With Ryan Brunt, Matt Harrold, David Clarkson and Eliot Richards our 4 main options as it stands we seriously lack a poacher to take chances in and around the penalty box. As we hear every summer, Jamie Cureton has been linked with a return to the club but there is no substance to the rumours on this occasion. He is, perhaps, a little too old for this Rovers team but a player of his style and ability is exactly what we require.

Maybe this will tempt Ward into seeking his services?

Good luck Oumare.
