Fixture List Announced: Exeter City (A) On Opening Day

St James Park - Lifted from: footygrounds.blogspot.com
The fixture lists for every Football League club have been announced today and Rovers have been handed a West Country derby to kick off the campaign. The Gas travel to Exeter City on August 3rd in a match that already guarantees one of the biggest crowds at St James Park all season, aided by an away sell-out. This is followed up by a home game against relegated Scunthorpe United at the Mem before an eye-catching derby against our Welsh rivals Newport County at Rodney Parade.

As far as the festive period is concerned, Rovers welcome Portsmouth to Bristol on December 21st before an away trip to Torquay United on Boxing Day. We then travel to Rochdale on December 29th in our penultimate match of the Christmas run-in before hosting Cheltenham Town on New Year's Day.

We end the season with an away trip to Wycombe Wanderers on April 26th and Mansfield Town at home on May 3rd.

In terms of other notable fixtures we travel to Plymouth Argyle on a Saturday for the first time in several seasons at the beginning of September (7th). We play Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium on November 2nd and face Cheltenham at Whaddon Road later that month on the 26th. We entertain Exeter and Newport on the 11th and 25th of January respectively before welcoming Oxford on the 8th of February. We're at home to Plymouth on March 8th and Torquay on April 12th. The big away day to Portsmouth and Fratton Park takes place on Easter Saturday (19th April) and promises to be a massive occasion if both teams need the points.

The time has come for
us all to start planning out our Saturdays for the next year and just wait patiently for the opening weekend in August. It's not too far off now!
