To the delight of Gasheads everywhere though, York hit back and equalised through Ashley Chambers in the first half, before Matty Blair netted an offside winner seconds in to the second period. If any one deserved such rotten luck it's Mr Buckle after his personal abuse of Bristolians and Rovers players alike during his poisonous tenure, so we'll allow the linesman's blatant error go on this occasion! It saw York earn promotion and we now know 23 of the 24 teams we'll come up against next season. As much as it would have been a delight to welcome Buckle back to the Mem, I'm glad he'll remain a non-league manager for at least another year.
Congratulations to all at York City, welcome back to the league!
Crewe face Cheltenham at Wembley in the League Two Play-Off final next weekend, with the loser taking up the final spot in the division. On the balance of our meetings with both sides this year I think Crewe have the extra quality and should have enough to win it by the odd goal. Nick Powell is the obvious danger man for the Alex but AJ Leitch-Smith is an intelligent forward with an eye for goal so it would come as no surprise if either of these players prove to be the match-winner. I'll plump for 1-0 Crewe.
Speculation suggests the Alex academy product has already signed for Manchester United for a staggering £4 million |
