Several other signings have been completed in League Two this week as we enter the final fortnight of the close-season. Brian Laws' Scunthorpe United have been by far the busiest side in the past 7 days by making a trio of new additions. The transfer market hasn't quite exploded into life yet but some significant deals are starting to be struck across the divisions with players becoming keen to sort out their futures before they become free agents.

Chesterfield completed the most impressive signing by luring Scunny midfielder Jimmy Ryan to the club on a 1 year deal. The winger shone for the relegated side in League One and attracted interest from clubs well above the fourth tier, however he has opted to link up with the Spireites for 2013-2014. The Iron have moved to strengthen their squad with the eye-catching addition of Watford striker Chris Iwelumo. The big Scot has joined on a 1 year contract and will be the figurehead of the Scunny frontline. Brian Laws has also sourced defensive reinforcements in the form of Gainsborough duo Terry Hawkridge and Luke Waterfall who have moved to Glanford Park for undisclosed fees.

Newport County have struck two deals this week as they prepare for life in the Football League. Their first saw them bring in midfielder Adam Chapman from Oxford United for an undisclosed fee. There's Rovers interest in their second capture as they poached problematic forward Chris Zebroski from Conference South side Eastleigh. Zebroski joined the non-leaguers after being released by Cheltenham Town in January of this year for missing a fourth match due to his off-field antics. Temperamental manager Mark Yeats shipped him out, quite rightly, despite spending in excess of 15k to sign him from us last summer. It brings Newport's total of ex-Gas players up to 4 with David Pipe, Byron Anthony, Andy Sandell accompanying Chris Zebroski at Rodney Parade.

Elsewhere Mansfield Town have swooped for former defender Martin Riley on a free transfer. He moved to Wrexham from the Stags 2 years ago but has re-joined following their promotion to League Two. The final piece of transfer activity came from Morecambe, who have completed their first business of the summer. Macclesfield Town defender Tony Diagne has penned a 2 year deal with the Shrimps having played in the Conference Premier last season.
