Guess Kuffs gone?

Well, it's been anticipated for the past 5 weeks or so, but Jo Kuffour has finally headed through the exit door at Rovers following his 'disagreement' with manager Paul Buckle in August. He made no secret of his desire to leave Bristol for a club closer to his London roots and he has linked up with Gillingham on a loan deal that runs until the end of December. The expiry of the loan coincides with the Transfer Window opening in January, so a permanent move away looks almost certain, but whether its to the Gills or another side remains to be seen.

I would assume we're paying the majority of JK4's wages still, as I doubt Gillingham would be able to afford the weekly pay packet he receives, as they already have a fairly expensive loanee in West Ham striker Frank Nouble. It does look like the Gills have a decent strike force with Kuffour, Nouble, Danny Kedwell, Stefan Payne and Adam Birchall, who is currently injured, all a part of their squad, so League 2 beware!

No news as yet on Krisztian Timar, who played for the reserves in midweek against Brentford. Buckle spoke about him on Thursday and made clear he liked Timar's physical presence and heading ability and said he would make a decision within 24 hours. Obviously that time has elapsed at the time of writing and there is no news, perhaps an indication that he's not going to sign. Although, seeing as the Kuffour move was only finalised earlier on Friday, a move for the 32 year old could still be on the cards.

Tomorrow/today, as it is unbelievably late now, sees us take on Cheltenham Town in somewhat of a local match. The Robins are the club of former Rovers favourite and cult hero Steve Elliott, whilst ex-striker Darryl Duffy linked up with Mark Yates' men over the summer upon the expiry of his Rovers deal. The former will certainly receive a warm welcome from Gasheads and hopefully there will be a rendition or two of his personal song!

Come on Rovers, come on you blues!!
