Defeat leaves Buckle scratching his Barnet...

I just want to make it apparent from the start that I felt we were very unlucky on Saturday. On any other day we score 4 or 5 goals and win the game comfortably, but it just wasn't happening for us. Barnet were a very poor side and were lucky to go 1-0 up, although you've got to hand it to Izale McLeod - he knows how to score goals. Their second was so unjustified I think emotions just spilled over and resulted in the bust-ups we witnessed within the stands - not pretty at all, but shows we all care.

How has it got to this point though? Yes we deserved more from the game than we got, but how come we all got so angry after a 2-0 defeat? Because we have a manager who has no idea what he's doing. A man who has alienated supporters through his depressive 'lower your expectations' speeches, alienated his own players through his poor man management and lost the faith of the board through his diabolical results and constant excuse-making. Now, you can argue for and against whether he should leave (I'm firmly in the get him out camp) - you'll get nowhere if you constantly chop and change the manger, I understand that, but the way he has behaved on and off the touchline has been shockingly amateur and has lead to him losing the support of Gasheads. He only has himself to blame for this... but I'm sure we'll hear how 'the floodlights were too bright' or 'the ball was too round' in his Monday press call.

The rumours were rife over the weekend as to whether he would leave and as yet, he hasn't. I don't think he will either, at least not for a couple of weeks if results remain shambolic, so his presence will be felt for a while yet I fear. A defeat to Southend (unless an absolute annihilation) won't rid him, cos we'll be expected to lose, but losing to Totton would surely be the end. We can't lose on national TV to an Evo-Stik Premier Division side. Well, we can, but we can't allow it.

I can't see anything other than negativity this week leading in to the Shrimpers game at Roots Hall on Saturday. We've just lost to another really really poor side at home and that's unacceptable. I just hope something can be salvaged from this season, regardless of whether Buckle stays or goes...
