What's going on...?

So another week passes and in doing so brings the end of the emergency loan window available to football-league clubs prior to January. It was well publicised by Paul Buckle, the players and the chairman that reinforcements were required due to the horrendous number of goals we've been shipping all season. The deadline passed yesterday and NO players were brought in - why not I hear you cry?

Well, it must be noted that although chairman Nick Higgs suggested new players would be brought in on loan, it came before the ridiculously poor results against Accrington and Barnet this month. All faith in Buckle has been lost from the supporters point of view and it seems some of the players are nursing fractured relationships with their gaffer too, which isn't exactly a perfect recipe for success on the pitch. Up to now there has been little speculation regarding the sort of relationship shared between manager and chairman, but I think this weeks events (or lack of) would give a big suggestion that all is not well. Why publicly announce as chairman that funds are available to bring in players but then fail to do so? The fact Buckle puts it down to lack of finances (contradicting NH's earlier comments) would suggest that it's because there is a lack of trust there.

Higgs, understandably, doesn't trust PB to spend wisely and if there was any doubt in his mind regarding the manager's position then he was correct not to invest. However, this serves no purpose if Buckle is allowed to remain at the helm to oversee similar results as we have been so far this campaign.

It looks to me like Higgs has decided that he isn't 100% happy with Buckle in charge of the team and it's down to him to act if things continue in the same vain. It'll be interesting to see what happens should we lose to league leaders Southend United tomorrow and then, God forbid (or not if you're anti-Buckle), AFC Totton a week Sunday. I must admit, I don't envy PB right now, although he's brought it on himself.

Like always I want us to win the game and would love to see us hammer the opposition - it would please me greatly all week! - but I can't see it and the pressure mounting on the chairman to rid Buckle will increase massively. What's going to happen? Who knows, it's Bristol Rovers after all.

Come on you blues.
