Bristol Rovers 2013 Summer Prediction

The voting on the latest 'Life's A Gas' poll has closed and there is a clear favourite among the possible answers.

Asked 'Where Will Rovers Finish Next Season?', 42 of the 66 votes were cast in favour of a Play-Off finish at the end of the campaign, highlighting the summer optimism of Gasheads. We've not recruited any new players thus far, so the confidence must stem from the positive results the club enjoyed in the second half of last season.

10 voters believed a Top 3 finish is within our grasp, whilst an equal number of people felt we could finish Mid-Table for the second year in a row. 4 voters felt we will finish bottom half or worse; the dreaded League Two trapdoor to the Blue Square Premier.

Of course these are very early predictions and are based on gut-feelings of Gasheads at this stage of the summer. It's very interesting to see the optimism of a successful season (Play-Offs or better) is alive in the vast majority of fans (78%) at a point where no improvements have been made to the playing squad since the back-end of last season. I'm intrigued to find out how our predictions may change given the identities of the new signings we make over the summer and just how quickly they adopt the tactics of Mark McGhee, so I'll run the same poll again at a later date during pre-season.

Thank you to all Gasheads who took the time to vote. Leave your thoughts in the comment box below this post.

  1. Definitely some cause for optimism, based upon last season's impressive finish. A few good signings and we will be well set, I think.
