Rovers announced their second signing of the day with David Clarkson agreeing a 2-year deal subject to a medical.
The Scotland international and former Bristol City striker has been training with the club for most of pre-season, with Mark McGhee making no secret of his desire to sign him. There were fears among fans that the highly-rated striker would opt to join a League One club instead of dropping down to League Two, so to finally pull of his signing is a great coup for the club. McGhee also believed it would be difficult to sign his former Motherwell forward but he's been able to convince him his future lies at Rovers.
A striker who 3 years ago cost £800,000 should be a top signing in League Two and with Clarkson at the age of 26, he's surely about to enter the best years of his career.
Welcome to Rovers David!
