Lund Lands Injury

Matt Lund, who was training with Rovers ahead of completing a six-month loan move from Premier League side Stoke City, has sustained an achilles injury that forced him to sit out the game against the Royal Marines on Saturday. Whilst it's not expected to be serious enough to prevent the loan deal from going through, the club don't want to commit until they have received the results of a scan to determine the extent of the problem.

The fact the club are holding out may suggest that it might not be a short-term niggle and they'd prefer to keep their options open. Stoke have been very accommodating during our pursuit of Lund on two separate occasions over the past 6 months as the club have a number of links with Rovers - Tony Pulis and John Rudge, among others, have donned the quarters in the past. Both clubs will be hoping he is able to finalise the loan move shortly in preparation for the new season which is 4 weeks away.

Lund, who scored two goals in his final appearance against Accrington last season, would provide Mark McGhee a further central midfield or wide option should he complete his move.

Update: Lund has recently tweeted 'all clear', potentially in reference to the scan results. This would be good news and could see the deal rubber stamped later on today.

  1. Good news if this is the case. I thought he looked a decent player last year.

  2. Definitely, thought he grew with each passing game.

Think he can be a key player for us.
