Norburn Joins Gas

Following on from media speculation last night, Rovers have completed their first signing of the summer, sealing the signature of former loanee Oliver Norburn on a one-year contract.

The deal has an option for a further twelve months and judging by Oli's tweets this morning he'll be hoping that can become a reality with Rovers in League One.

There were question marks during his incredibly short loan spell with us before Christmas due to his fitness and physique, however any fears that he would join unfit should be dispelled. He appears visibly leaner and Mark McGhee has explained that he 'looks in much better shape' before his rigorous pre-season training programme begins tomorrow. The 19 year old has been praised further by McGhee who said 'I'm confident that what they [supporters] saw then [during his loan spell] was only a shadow of the player I think he can be' and he cites his 'determination' as part of why he'll improve having had the experience.

All very positive from the McGhee which is pleasing to hear, although it is mandatory for managers world-wide to talk up any new signings they make. Here's to Oli going out and proving he has the ability to make a mark on our side in a successful season.

Now the first signing has been completed, here's hoping we get some more very very soon.
