Rovers Sign Seanan Clucas

Rovers have this afternoon completed signing number 2 of the summer with Northern Ireland U21 midfielder Seanan Clucas signing a 1 year deal.

Seanan (pronounced Shannon) was released by Preston North End but captained their youth side within the past 3 years following his switch to Deepdale from Dungannon Swifts. He had a fleeting loan spell with Burton Albion towards the end of last season but didn't feature in their humiliating 7-1 thrashing at the Mem.

Mark McGhee is delighted with the signing and says; 'he's different. He's slightly built but that's quite deceptive because he's a tenacious tackler, a great ball winner and he breaks things down. We think he can do really well for us.' Alongside the signing of fellow central midfielder Oliver Norburn yesterday, Rovers now have decent options in the middle of the park with Wayne Brown and Matt Gill also signed up for next season.

Clucas explained 'there were a few other clubs interested in signing me' but once his agent had told him of Rovers' interest he was delighted to be offered a contract with the club.

It's a signal of intent from Mark McGhee that young, hungry and energetic players will get a chance with us next season although perhaps suggests a loan move for Matt Lund won't materialise after all. I'm all for this approach if it gets us results on the pitch. It has to be better than signing League Two journeymen like we did last summer.

Strikers, centre backs and wingers should be the next priority - it'll be interesting to see who's next through the door at the Mem.
