Potentially No New Signings For Fleetwood

John Ward informed reporters last night that we could go in to the big game with Fleetwood Town at Highbury Stadium this Saturday with no new signings in place. The Rovers manager has been working tirelessly over the past few days to bring in reinforcements to out small squad, with strikers and defenders being the priority at the moment. Many names have been linked with a move to the Mem, including Yeovil striker Reuben Reid, but as yet nobody has put pen to paper.

Ward explained how we'd missed out on a couple of targets in the last 48 hours and at least one of them would have been a permanent signing. We'd had a bid rejected for this player and it seems unlikely we'll return to them with an improved offer because any inflated fees will be avoided by the club. Chairman Nick Higgs wrote his fortnightly report on the club's official website yesterday and concluded with the statement that Ward will hopefully have a 'few' new faces signed up by the time we travel north Friday afternoon. That, however, appears very unlikely unless quick progress is made in the next 24 hours.
