Matt Harrold Signs

Striker Matt Harrold is the latest player to sign a new deal with Rovers. The 28 year old has signed a
one year contract with a 12-month option after impressing John Ward with his attitude on the training ground.

He injured his knee ligaments away at Gillingham in September and has been recovering ever since. He's now close to a level of fitness that could see him play a part either Accrington or Torquay in our final two games of the season. Ward has explained how Matt pesters him for a game on a Saturday but has had to calm him down to ensure he only makes a comeback when he's ready. He netted 18 goals in his first term as a Rovers player to become our top scorer, with his first coming on the opening day.

Michael Smith signed yesterday and as many have speculated, it seems it's paved the way for others to follow suit. Matt is not a player many fans thought would get offered a contract for next season given our lack of a 'finisher' but that's not to say everybody is disappointed. He works very hard for the cause and is a good example to the younger players on and off the pitch. Hopefully we can now make progress in regards to keeping other first team players.
