Elsewhere In League Two... (5)

League Two has been awash with transfer movements this week as preparations for next season step up a gear across the country. York City and Oxford United have been busy in the past 7 days by both recruiting 3 new players, with one of them being an Estonian international. There were also a couple of other clubs who have added fresh blood to their squads while Wycombe Wanderers have completed their first capture of the summer courtesy of Reading.

Nigel Wothington's York City have been busy this week, particularly in the last couple of days, and have announced deals for Wes Fletcher, Chris Kettings and Sander Puri. Fletcher, a striker, arrives having been snared from under the noses of Morecambe. The 6 ft 2 target man held talks with Jim Bentley's Shrimps but eventually opted for a move to York. Kettings joins on a season's loan from Championship side Blackpool and will challenge goalkeeper Michael Ingham for the number 1 jersey. Worthington completed the most eye-catching acquisition with the signing of Puri, an international winger, on a free transfer. He was most recently with SPL side St. Mirren but had been on Worthington's radar for a couple of years having faced his former Northern Ireland side for his native Estonia. A deal has long been rumoured but it has now finally been completed and firmly lifts the Minstermen into the category of 'busiest club' alongside Portsmouth.

Oxford United followed York's lead by completing a triple swoop of their own in the latter part of this week. Danny Rose has joined from Fleetwood Town and David Hunt has moved from Crawley Town on a free transfer. The U's have also brought in promising midfielder Josh Shama from Reading on a 1 year deal to bolster an area of the pitch that will no longer have Peter Leven orchestrating attacks. Chris Wilder is by no means finished in his recruitment drive and you can expect Oxford to make a few more signings before the big kick-off on August 3rd.

Elsewhere Oliver Lancashire has made a move to Rochdale from Aldershot Town and Fleetwood Town have moved for Stewart Murdoch of Falkirk (right). Both have signed 2 year deals with their respective new clubs. Wycombe Wanderers have joined the League Two transfer party having negotiated the season-long loan of Reading youngster Nick Arnold. The defender has committed to the Chairboys in a week that has seen them lose their skipper Dave Winfield to League One side Shrewsbury Town.
