Seanan Signs Up

Lifted from: bbc.co.uk
Injured midfielder Seanan Clucas has penned a 1 year contract extension to keep him at the club until next summer. The Northern Irish youngster damaged his knee ligaments in February and is currently undergoing rehab at Lilleshall in a bid to regain fitness as soon as possible. It was a cruel blow for Clucas as he was firmly establishing himself as a battler in midfield and was, without doubt, one of the first names on John Ward's teamsheet. For any young player approaching the end of their contract it is understandable that Clucas was fearing release as he was unable to prove his worth after that fateful afternoon against Morecambe.

Fortunately the club are standing by their highly-rated starlet and hope to reap the rewards by seeing him make a comeback and winning a regular place in the first team again. If he does that then the potential is there for him to have a successful long-term future with the club. Rovers are showing their loyalty to him and that will stand the club in good stead in the future.

Of the players offered new contracts only Danny Woodards and Ollie Norburn have yet to officially sign. Norburn has recently returned from a second holiday and tweeted about 'sorting' his future out so we can expect developments on his situation soon. As for Woodards, it's understood he is undergoing rehab and spending time with his family in London and there is no immediate need for that to change. It's unlikely he'll receive any other offers, despite being a very good footballer, because he is a long way from being fit and it is the second long-term injury he has sustained in the space of a year. I have a feeling they'll both sign soon enough.
