Elsewhere In League Two... (7)

The last week has seen a staggering 20 transfers take place in League Two with previously non-active Bury seizing power and contributing 4 to the total. A couple of other clubs broke their transfer ducks with signings as the clock ticks down to the new season's kick-off on August 3rd.

Bury, managed by Kevin Blackwell, exploded onto the scene this week having recently been taken over following their relegation from League One. They completed back-to-back double swoops yesterday and today with some well-known Football League personalities linking up with the Gigg Lane club. Sought after striker Ashley Grimes signed a 2 year deal, going back on a verbal agreement he had to join Cheltenham Town, while ex-Derby County full-back Gareth Roberts agreed terms on a 1 year contract. Nathan Cameron linked up with the other new boys today following his release from Coventry City and young midfielder Greg McDermott also signed following an appearance-less spell with Stockport County in the Blue Square Premier. Bury also have a wealth of trialists who could also earn contracts over the coming days and weeks to further strengthen their squad.

Paul Cook's Chesterfield pulled off one of the more notable signings of the week with winger Gary Roberts penning a 3 year deal after departing Swindon Town. The influential left-sider, dubbed the 'best left winger outside the Premier League' by Chief Executive Chris Turner, had not hit the heights for Swindon and was allowed to leave his contract 12 months early given the Wiltshire club's need to reduce their wage bill. The other eye-catching League Two move of the past 7 days came courtesy of Oxford United and striker Dave Kitson. The former Premier League forward has signed a 2 year deal following Sheffield United's failure to win the League One play-offs last season.

Elsewhere, Scunthorpe United have tied down ex-Carlisle United winger Andy Welsh on a 1 year contract and Northampton Town sealed their first piece of summer business by snatching goalkeeper Matt Duke from Bradford City. Later in the week they then went on to complete a move for Torquay United's Ian Morris. Fleetwood Town and their financial power tempted Chester's Antoni Sarcevic to Highbury, Wycombe Wanderers pinched Paris Cowan-Hall from Plymouth Argyle and Jon-Paul Pittman from Oxford while AFC Wimbledon brought in defenders George Francomb and Andy Frampton.

Blizzard for Rovers - Lifted from: brfcforum.co.uk
Plymouth have moved for an ex-Rovers midfielder in the shape of Dominic Blizzard, who has put pen to paper on a 2 year contract. Morecambe have brought in Jack Sampson on a free transfer from Bolton Wanderers and Alex Kenyon has signed from Stockport for a fee to be decided by a tribunal. Southend United, who drafted in ex-Gas manager Dave Penney as Phil Brown's new assistant, have signed John White from Colchester United for their first business of pre-season after a tame end to the last campaign. Hartlepool United were the other club to seal their first new signature of the summer after they landed wide-man Jack Compton who, apparently, turned down Bristol City to link up with the Monkey Hangers.

Finally this week, Burton Albion have completed a move for full-back Chris Hussey and York City have swooped for midfielder Lewis Montrose, who departed League Two champions Gillingham at the end of the season.

Rovers remain stuck on just one new summer recruit. Only Dagenham & RedbridgeExeter City and Torquay United have signed fewer - 0 to be precise.
