Rumours Rife

There has been plenty of speculation in the past 7 days regarding news on imminent signings at the Mem. As yet no new faces have been brought in since Seanan Clucas signed a few weeks ago, but there is set to be considerable movement over the next few days.

Mark McGhee has made no secret of his desire to bring in two centre halves and there are two players that have been linked with a move to Bristol. Both have international pedigree and could prove to be masterstrokes at League Two level, as both have performed to high standards in previous years. Garry Kenneth is one of those players and would join on a free transfer should a deal be completed. He ran down his contract at Dundee United following considerable interest from Championship clubs a couple of years ago and hoped to land a move to a highly ranked English club. Unfortunately for him he endured a torrid 2011-2012 season and hasn't received the offers he'd originally hoped, giving McGhee a chance to tempt him to Rovers. A Scottish journalist has tweeted about our interest and Sky Sports are now running a story to suggest his signing could be finalised very soon. I'd be delighted with it if true because I'm sure we could get the best out of him here. He's at a good age (25) and was valued as highly as £1 million by Dundee United after they rebuffed a bid from Ian Holloway's Blackpool in 2010.

At 6 ft 4 he'd be a man-mountain at the heart of our defence and he could be partnered by another new recruit. This rumour comes out of the blue somewhat but could really introduce some excitement to fans... Rogvi Baldvinsson from Algard in Norway. You haven't heard of him, I know! He is a Faroese international centre back and captain of his club at 22 years of age. Rumours from Norwegian sources on Twitter, he is set to join us for an undisclosed fee following a medical next Monday. If this comes off then it would be testament to McGhee's contacts and scouting across Europe. To have two international defenders competing with the lean-looking Adam Virgo and we could have a fantastic centre back trio at League Two level.

If these don't happen then I apologise, but I report this with faith that they will turn out to be true.

A deal for Dave Clarkson is hoped to be completed within the next 24 hours according to McGhee, so another major coup could finally be rubber stamped over the course of Friday. Our pursuit of Clarkson has been a long one and it looked at one point as if it wasn't going to happen, but it appears now that a deal is close. When fully fit I think he could be a top quality player for us, particularly with the coaching talents of MM and Marcus Stewart there to assist him.

We've all been waiting a long time for some significant transfer action at the club and we could finally be in a position to announce some. I hope I'm right with these and that we are all a little more excited this time tomorrow!
