Loan Deadline Passes With No New Recruits

John-Joe in action against Wycombe at the Mem
John Ward revealed he missed out on two potential loan signings on Wednesday ahead of the loan deadline as he attempted to replace the outgoing John-Joe O'Toole. The Irishman will return to parent club Colchester United after Easter Monday's game with Dagenham & Redbridge because his 3-month loan spell that cannot be extended. Ward was less enthusiastic today in his search to add to the squad citing his contentment with the players he had available to him and the fact that they had to improve the team in order to be worth it. He clearly identified two players who would have done so but unfortunately was turned down at the last minute.

The 5pm deadline passed with no incomings at the Mem but upcoming opponents Dagenham signed 4 players today. Among them is former Charlton and Barnet defender Jonathan Fortune and Lincoln City left back Peter Gilbert, who have a lot of league experience between them. That will make our trip to London a much tougher prospect but one that certainly won't faze the team who have beaten much stronger sides already in recent months.
